  • All JetBlue Mosaic elites will be eligible for complimentary domestic first-class upgrades
  • Some Mosaic members can also earn confirmable upgrade certificates, redeemable in the Mint or BlueFirst cabins
  • New "Perks You Pick" available, including lounge passes

JetBlue is just weeks away from launching service in its new domestic first-class cabin.

And with those "BlueFirst" seats now on sale, the carrier is offering some long-promised details about what upgrades will look like for elite status members.

All TrueBlue Mosaic members will be eligible for unlimited complimentary upgrades to the first-class cabin — when seats are available, of course.

That's on par with the upgrade policies at other full-service U.S. carriers.

Flyers who carry the JetBlue Premier Card, the carrier's premium credit card, will also be eligible.

The information for the JetBlue Premier Card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Heading into 2027, JetBlue is also revamping the confirmable upgrade certificates members can earn as they climb the status ladder.

Plus, there are some changes to the choice perks TrueBlue members can claim, known as "Perks You Pick."

Many of these changes will take effect Feb. 1. However, upgrades into BlueFirst will begin as soon as those seats start appearing on planes.

Here's what to know.

Status qualification remains unchanged

First things first, JetBlue won't change the elite status qualification requirements.

In 2027, TrueBlue members will need the same number of "tiles" to reach the four Mosaic tiers.

  • Mosaic 1: 50 tiles
  • Mosaic 2: 100 tiles
  • Mosaic 3: 150 tiles
  • Mosaic 4: 250 tiles

As always, travelers can earn tiles (JetBlue's status metric) a few ways, including by flying and spending on eligible cobranded credit cards.

First-class upgrades on JetBlue: What to know

The biggest change to JetBlue Mosaic status in 2027 involves upgrades.

That's thanks to the debut of BlueFirst, which is slated to start appearing on the first planes in December.

The new front cabin will allow the airline to introduce complimentary, space-available upgrades to its loyalty members for the first time.

How complimentary BlueFirst upgrades will work

JetBlue passengers eligible for upgrades can clear the queue up to an hour before departure.

When there are empty seats, here is how the upgrade priority will shake out:

  1. Mosaic 4 members
  2. Mosaic 3 members
  3. Mosaic 2 members
  4. Mosaic 1 members
  5. JetBlue Premier cardholders without status

A few additional points to know:

  • Mosaic members will be allowed one companion who can upgrade into BlueFirst, too.
  • Travelers who book "base" (basic) main cabin or EvenMore fares will not be eligible for an upgrade.
  • JetBlue Premier cardholders without status must pay for their trip with their JetBlue Premier card to be eligible for a BlueFirst upgrade.

Which planes will get BlueFirst?

JetBlue plans to install the domestic-style BlueFirst cabin on all of its planes that don't have Mint (its lie-flat, business-class cabin).

The airline will not offer standard complimentary upgrades into Mint.

Upgrade certificates get revamped

High-level TrueBlue status members will also have the option to confirm an upgrade after booking a flight.

Historically, JetBlue has offered higher-tier Mosaic members an allotment of "Move to Mint" certificates that were good for a spot in the airline's long-haul business cabin.

Premium Upgrade Certificates

Going forward, "Move to Mint" will be rebranded as "Premium Upgrade Certificates," which travelers can use in either Mint or BlueFirst.

  • Mosaic 3 members automatically receive four Premium Upgrade Certificates upon reaching 150 tiles.
  • Mosaic 4 members automatically receive four additional certificates upon hitting 250 tiles.

Members can select additional Premium Upgrade Certificates from JetBlue's menu of "Perks You Pick."

That option begins at Mosaic 2.

How many Premium Upgrade Certificates for a seat?

JetBlue's Premium Upgrade Certificates can be applied any time after booking, up to two hours before departure.

As always, redeeming upgrade certificates is subject to availability.

The number of certificates you'll need for a confirmed upgrade will fluctuate dynamically from one flight to another, as shown in the carrier's published graphic.

New Perks You Pick

Beyond upgrades, JetBlue revamped its menu of "Perks You Pick."

These are the additional, optional benefits that members unlock as they gain higher status.

New additions to the list include one-time passes to JetBlue's new BlueHouse lounges in New York City and Boston (only top-tier Mosaic 4 status unlocks a full lounge membership).
