The 7 best credit cards for Amazon purchases
Editor's Note
Whether you're shopping for gifts or restocking your essentials, Amazon is the go-to merchant for many online shoppers. And when you have a Prime membership, almost anything you order can be at your door in two days.
Plus, Prime Big Deal Days are around the corner. Running Oct. 6 and 7, Prime members will have access to exclusive deals that could net some serious savings. If you want to earn more rewards for your Amazon spending, consider adding a credit card that earns more rewards on those expenses.
When you're deciding on a card for Amazon spending, you'll want to consider earning rates, rewards currencies and which benefits you can leverage. With all of this in mind, here are the best credit cards for shopping at Amazon.
The best credit cards for Amazon purchases

$0 (see rates and fees) | 3% cash back at U.S. online retailers (including Amazon)**

Prime Visa
In many cases, the Prime Visa is the best option for Amazon purchases.
Welcome offer: New cardholders receive a $150 Amazon gift card instantly upon approval. Note, you must pay for a Prime membership ($139 per year) to qualify.

Earning rates:
- If you have an eligible Prime membership: 5% back on Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market and travel booked through Chase Travel℠
- 2% back on gas stations, local transit and commuting (including ride-hailing services) and restaurants
- 1% back on all other purchases
Why we like it: The Prime Visa is, appropriately, perfectly oriented toward Amazon spending, earning a high cash back rate on Amazon purchases, with the opportunity to earn up to 10% back on a rotating selection of items and categories.
The rewards you earn on the Prime Visa can be redeemed as cash back, gift cards or for travel through Chase Travel.

Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card
The Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards credit card is an excellent choice for Amazon purchases in the first year you hold the card.
Welcome offer: Earn a $200 online cash rewards bonus after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days from account opening.

Earning rates:
- 6% cash back in your category of choice (including online shopping, which covers Amazon) for the first year (on up to $2,500 in combined choice category, grocery store and wholesale club purchases each quarter, then 1% back; earning rate drops to 3% in the category of your choice after the first year, subject to the same terms)
- 2% cash back at grocery stores and wholesale clubs (also subject to the same $2,500 quarterly combined cap)
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
Why we like it: Cardholders can choose "online shopping" as their 3% category. That makes this one of the few cards that can beat the Prime Visa's 5% during a card's first year — and it remains competitive with 3% cash back after that, all for no annual fee.
Just keep an eye on the $2,500 quarterly spending cap on the bonus categories combined; anything beyond that earns 1% cash back.

Blue Cash Everyday
For those who want a no-annual-fee Amex card geared specifically toward everyday spending, the Blue Cash Everyday is worth a look.
Welcome offer: Find out your offer and see if you are eligible for as high as $200 cash back after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership.
(Welcome offers vary, and you may not be eligible for an offer. Cash Back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit or at Amazon.com checkout.)

Earning rates:
- 3% cash back at U.S. online retailers**
- 3% back at U.S. supermarkets**
- 3% back at U.S. gas stations**
- 1% on all other eligible purchases
**On the first $6,000 you spend in each category each calendar year, then 1% back
Cash back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit and at Amazon.com checkout.
Why we like it: The card's 3% U.S. online retail category covers Amazon purchases, and the $6,000 annual cap is generous enough that most shoppers won't reach it.
If you're already an Amex loyalist or want a card that also rewards grocery and gas spending, this is a well-rounded, no-annual-fee option.

Capital One Venture X
Consider the Capital One Venture X to earn transferable miles on your Amazon purchases. This card earns 2 miles per dollar spent on everyday purchases, including Amazon.
Welcome offer: Earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

Earning rates:
- 10 miles per dollar spent on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
- 5 miles per dollar spent on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel
- 2 miles per dollar spent on all other purchases
Why we like it: The Venture X is a solid all-around travel rewards card.
While you may not want to choose this card solely for Amazon purchases, if you're interested in the other benefits it offers, it's a great choice for its $395 annual fee.
Plus, Capital One miles are valued at 1.85 cents apiece per TPG's October 2026 valuations. This means you'll receive a respectable 3.7% return for your Amazon shopping.

Capital One Venture Rewards
Like its premium sibling, the Capital One Venture Rewards also earns 2 miles per dollar spent on your Amazon purchases, but at a lower $95 annual fee.
Welcome offer: Earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Plus, receive a $300 credit to use on hotel and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel in the first cardholder year upon account opening.

Earning rates:
- 5 miles per dollar spent on car rentals, hotels and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel
- 2 miles per dollar spent on all other purchases
Why we like it: If earning transferable rewards is more your speed, the Venture Rewards card is a great choice for collecting Capital One miles.
Plus, with a lower annual fee than the Venture X, this could be a great choice if you're looking to keep costs low while still earning miles on your spending.

Chase Freedom Unlimited
If you're not a Prime subscriber and still want a solid return on your spending, your best bet may be to go with the no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Unlimited.
Welcome offer: Earn a $200 bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

Earning rates:
- 5% cash back on travel booked through Chase Travel
- 3% cash back on dining (including takeout and eligible delivery services) and 3% back at drugstores
- 1.5% cash back on all purchases (including Amazon)
Why we like it: The Freedom Unlimited offers 1.5% cash back on your Amazon purchases. This may not be as good as the Prime Visa, but it is higher than the standard 1% back you'll receive with many other cards.
However, you can stretch your cash back even further when you pair your Freedom Unlimited with a premium card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees).
If you do, you can convert your Freedom Unlimited rewards into full-fledged transferable Ultimate Rewards points, which are 2.05 cents each based on TPG's October 2026 valuations. This would result in a 3.1% return on your Amazon spending with this card.

Wells Fargo Active Cash
If you'd rather not juggle bonus categories, the Wells Fargo Active Cash is a strong, simple option for Amazon purchases.
Welcome offer: Earn a $100 cash rewards bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

Earning rates:
- 2% cash rewards on all purchases
Why we like it: The Active Cash doesn't require you to track categories or opt into a specific merchant to earn a solid return — you'll earn 2% cash rewards on Amazon purchases just as you would on everything else.
That flat rate beats the standard 1% cash back you'd get with many cards and edges out the Freedom Unlimited's 1.5% return.

Why you should get a credit card for Amazon purchases
There are multiple cards that earn rewards when you shop on Amazon. If you frequently scan the website or have packages delivered, it makes sense to add one of these cards to your wallet.
Remember, you aren't limited to the Prime Visa if you want to maximize your Amazon shopping. Many cards that earn points and miles, such as the Venture X and Venture Rewards, also net you bonus rewards with Amazon.
If you frequently make purchases on Amazon, we recommend getting a card that earns rewards in this specific category.

Bottom line
There are multiple cards that earn bonus rewards on Amazon purchases. Whether you're a cash-back enthusiast or a points-and-miles maximizer, you have many good options to choose from.
Just remember that every issuer has its own application restrictions to consider. This is especially true if you're intrigued by the Amazon-specific Prime Visa or the Freedom Unlimited, since they're Chase cards subject to 5/24 restrictions.
With multiple cards offering solid welcome bonuses, now could be a great time to apply.
